NGIA secures website grant for dedicated Transition Team communications
Russ Higginbotham, Chair of the Transition Team (‘Team’), is pleased to announce that industry will shortly have a dedicated website to communicate Team activities as they work towards a new national body where both associations and businesses can be direct members.
The grant, which is valued at $20K and offered to NGIA following an assessment process by the Institute of Technology Australia & New Zealand, will support communications around the establishment of a new national body.
‘This will be a grea t resource for Members to access as the Team works through the development of the Information Memorandum (IM),” said Russ. “Ensuring the correct information is easily available for review is a priority of the Team, as we move towards a Member vote in June this year.”
Planning for the website is currently underway and details of its launch will be shared as soon as they are available.
In the meantime, the Team all head to Melbourne on 12 and 13 March to hold their first intensive workshop to begin the development of the IM. Supporting the Team until June this year is business consultant Brian Ramsay of Inovact Consulting who will also facilitate the workshop next month.
In November 2018, Brain Ramsay delivered his report ‘Establishing a contemporary business model for the NGI network’ to network representatives, following which a consensus on the future of the national body was achieved.
What is an Information Memorandum (IM)?
An Information Memorandum (IM) is a document which contains all the important information related to the formation of a new entity.
An IM contains details such as the purpose or ‘objects’ of the new organisation; board appointment processes such as eligibility, nominations, election, term of office; membership details including categories, fees, voting rights; and meeting procedures for annual general meetings or special general meetings.
What is an IM used for?
The details contained in an IM are used to provide information at the critical stages of developing a new national body. A lawyer will use the information to draft the constitution and an auditor will used the details as they assess financial viability of the proposed organisation. The IM will also provide comprehensive details to Members on how the new national body will function
Transition Team members are available to discuss the process with you directly. If you would like a team member to contact you, please email your details to firstname.lastname@example.org and a Team member contact you.
