CEO UPDATE - JANUARY 2018
I hope you had an enjoyable festive season and holiday, if you were lucky enough to have one, and welcome to the first NNN Newsletter for 2018. In my update this month I will only focus on the two most important issues for NGIA currently, the review of the NGI network structure and the upcoming Conference in Hobart.
The NGIA Board met yesterday and it included a separate meeting with the State NGI Presidents and CEOs. The key item of business was to discuss progress with the structure review and how the session on the structure review will be conducted at the conference.
There is goodwill from the NGI network associations and representatives to work towards a single entity to represent the industry across the country. However more detail and clarity are being requested by the State Association Boards around the following areas:
· Financial modelling to compare the current position and compare with the future scenario
· Member benefits and activities
· Governance, staffing and structure of the new organisation
· How the “heritage” events, assets and historical records will be managed
The additional detail has been requested so that State NGI Boards and representatives understand how the new organisation will operate, to provide this information to members and to ensure NGI members are supported and serviced to a similar or better level than is provided currently.
My simple explanation of the proposed new organisation to represent the nursery and garden industry across Australia is:
“One organisation having a coordinated and united approach to deliver services, benefits and value to members across the country.”
The second key area of activity for NGIA currently is the organisation of the NGIA Conference in Hobart form 19 to 21 February. To have your say on the structure review, to find out how your levy is being invested, to hear very interesting speakers to get ideas for your business, to understand more of what NGIA is doing and to catch up with industry colleagues, I encourage you to please register and attend the conference.
As usual, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions, comments or concerns on the operation of NGIA and this edition of the NNN email.
