Get to know GIA's Chair, Ben Grange
Energy’ and ‘passion’ are the standout qualities our new Board Chair, Ben Grange, has already brought to his new role – and we couldn’t be more pleased!
After spending five years as a GIA Director, Ben was elected as chair at the Annual General Meeting last November.
Ben brings to the role over 20 years of industry experience, and currently oversees national sales and marketing for his family business, Grange Growing Solutions. He also sits on the Governance Committee of the Australian Plant Production Standard (APPS) program. Previously, he spent six years as a director of the @Nursery & Garden Industry of NSW and ACT Board. He has received multiple community and industry awards for outstanding service.
So, we’re in capable hands!
During his tenure as a GIA Board Director, Ben has witnessed lots of change in the organisation. Under the leadership of CEO, Jo Cave, Ben says GIA is in a good position with an excellent management team, which is carefully delivering on what industry has said it wants GIA to look like.
About the Chair role, Ben says, “I am most looking forward to driving and managing change. Our Board is very keen on rebuilding a national peak industry body that the whole industry is proud of.” He is particularly excited to work closely with state organisations.
One of the biggest opportunities Ben sees for GIA’s future is maximising the potential of the nursery levy to market our industry in a more meaningful way.
And what about the man behind the role?
In his spare time, Ben enjoys trying new restaurants and travelling to new places. He also enjoys the gym, which works off his social appetite!
Ben describes himself as a driven, hard-working person who is always focused on what is best for our sector. He’s committed to listening, understanding, and considering all aspects of discussion with industry.
Congratulations, Ben! The GIA team looks forward to benefiting from your governance expertise and commitment to our industry
